This summer, showcase your water-related research, education, or extension programs and stand a chance to win exciting prizes!

We’re looking for captivating images that highlight the incredible work being done in the field, lab, classroom, and community. Whether it’s a stunning snapshot of your research, a dynamic shot of educational activities, or a moment captured during an outreach event, we want to see it!

Awards

  • Cash prize: Five winners, one from each category and one at large winner will receive a $100 gift certificate (Prizes are subject to payroll taxation)
  • Display: Winning and runner-up photos will be showcased in the Water Institute’s 2025 calendar, featured on our website home page and social media, and distributed at various Water Institute sponsored events.
  • Recognition: Winners will be recognized at the 2024 Water Institute Awards Ceremony in the Fall.

Categories

  1. Research: Focuses on water-related research wherever it is done (e.g. field, lab, office, libraries, collections, with the communities).
  2. Education: Focuses on UF’s formal education, including K-12, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
  3. Extension and Outreach: Focuses on Extension programming, informal education, and community engagement.
  4. Water in Action: Focuses on the importance of water services that guide the direction of water research, education, extension, or outreach.

Eligibility

  • Open to UF Water Institute affiliated faculty, staff, and students.

Submission Guidelines

  • Photos must relate to water research, education, extension, or outreach.
  • Photos must be accompanied by a short description explaining the water related project, program, or activity that it intends to convey.
  • Entrants give consent to share photos on the Water Institute’s websites, printed materials, and social media accounts. Entrants will be credited when their photos are used.
  • Photos must be at least 3338 x 2588 pixels, a minimum of 300 ppi, and a maximum file size of 50MB (Learn about image resolution here).

  • Relevance to the category
  • How well it conveys UF’s water-related projects and programs
