Water Institute Affiliates Earn Awards for Their Website

Two Water Institute affiliate members are being recognized for their excellence as recipients of an award and a finalist for another. Dr. Yilin Zhuang, Water Resources Regional Specialized Agent in the UF/IFAS Extension Central District, and Dr. Andrea Albertin, Water Resources Specialized Agent for the UF/IFAS Northwest Extension District, have worked with Marketing and Communications Specialist Stella Canfield to create a webpage for Florida well owners. Known as the Florida Well Owner Network (FWON), the website serves as a hub of information and resources for private well owners. It provides valuable information for owners to know about well water quality and quantity as well as best practices to ensure well maintenance and groundwater protection.

The website’s caliber is highlighted through its recent achievements. It earned the Gold Award for Websites/Apps/Educational Technology from the Association of Natural Resource Extension Programs (ANREP) Annual Awards Program. This was based on selection criteria involving high quality and innovative materials and programs. The website is also one of four national finalists for the website/online category of the National Association of County Agricultural Agents (NACAA). This nationwide award recognizes the excellence and innovation in Extension education across the United States.
