Call for Abstracts has closed

We encourage you to submit an abstract for the 2nd UF Water Institute Symposium focused on Complex Challenges and Integrated Solutions for Sustainable Water Resources.  This symposium will bring together social and physical scientists, engineers, academics, non-governmental organizations, policy makers, water managers, industry and utility representatives, lawyers, students and the public to examine complex water issues from multiple perspectives.  Presentations are sought that focus on new research, education, policy and technology developments in the following interdisciplinary areas (click on links to below to view detailed topics within each area):
  • Hydrologic, biogeochemical, and ecological processes
  • Human dimensions of water sustainability: communication, conflict and control
  • Optimal use of integrated water supplies
  • Managing water and energy in a transitioning environment
  • Integrating science and policy for improved water management
Abstracts should not exceed 300 words, and must be submitted electronically using the on-line submission form no later than October 9, 2009.  Authors will indicate their preferred topic area and format (oral/poster) but final decisions will be made by the program committee.  Authors will be notified by email regarding acceptance and format of their presentation no later than November 6, 2009.  Accepted abstracts will be published online.

Student poster authors are eligible to compete for "Best Poster" awards based on the quality of the abstract, poster and discussion. Three poster winners will receive prizes of $1000 each to be used as funding to support future participation at a national conference.  Poster presenter winners will be announced during the closing session of the Symposium.

Before submitting your abstract please collect the following information:
  • Name, title, affiliation, and email address for the presenting author and all co-authors
  • Preferred topic area
  • Preferred format (oral, poster)
  • Abstract Title
  • Abstract (300 words or less, no graphics)
There is no charge for submitting an abstract. Conference registration will open November 6, 2009. Conference registration fees are detailed below:
