UF Water Institute Collaborative Workshop ,

The UF Water Institute is hosting a Collaborative Workshop on the UF campus this month. Organized by Dr. Carol Lippincott, Water Institute Research Coordinator, the 4-hour workshop for 24 Water Institute Affiliate Faculty will facilitate formation of interdisciplinary teams to prepare research proposals for the 2019 Water Institute Graduate Fellows (WIGF) program.

The Water Institute Graduate Fellows program supports interdisciplinary doctoral student/faculty advisor teams who conduct integrative research in an emerging area of water science, including the social, natural, and engineering sciences. Interdisciplinary faculty teams submit research proposals to the Water Institute every other year, and this yearís proposals are due September 24. Proposals are reviewed by the Water Instituteís Faculty Advisory Committee and Director. Once the winning proposal is chosen, 5 doctoral students are recruited and receive Graduate School Funding Awards for 4 years.

Water Institute Affiliate Faculty who will participate in this collaborative workshop are from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; College of Agricultural and Life Sciences; College of Design, Construction & Planning; College of Veterinary Medicine, and Levin College of Law. Participants will first take part in speed meetings to become familiar with each otherís research interests. They will then work in rotating small groups to generate proposal concepts and to form preliminary proposal teams.

Although this workshop is full, the Water Institute may offer others if there is sufficient interest. If you are interested in participating in a future collaborative workshop, please contact Carol Lippincott.
