My research and extension programs focus on water quality, including eutrophication and sea level rise. I use field observations and laboratory manipulation experiments to understand how environmental change and disturbance influence the fate and transport of nutrients in coastal and aquatic ecosystems. Research topics include the impact of sea level rise on ecosystem services from wetlands, the effects of aquaculture on sediment and water quality and the biogeochemical response of restoration.
