Jorge Avila is a postdoctoral associate interested in farm household analysis, gender analysis, and economic valuation of environmental services. He received a PhD degree from Food and Resource Economics Department, at University of Florida. In particular, his work has focussed on the adoption of new technologies (e.g. urea deep placement, or shade-grown production systems ), intra-household decision-making, differences in land production between male and female farmers, and valuation of had clams' environmental services. He is now part of a project that attempts to improve the quality of water in in the Lower Suwannee and Santa Fe River Basin (LSSFRB). Our work will provide insights on the producers' preferences over different payment's alternatives for them to adopt new techs, practices, and crop and/or land uses for an efficient use of water and preserve its quality. Grant: USDA NIFA Integrated Research, Education, and Extension Competitive Grants Program- National Integrated Water Quality Program, 2014 – 2017. PI: Dr Kelly Grogan.
