My research is focused on seed dispersal mutualisms and population and behavioral ecology of birds, as well as application of GIS for modeling habitat relationships and distribution patterns. For the past decade my research has been centered in western Amazonia in both terra firme and varzea forests. At UF, I am Director of the Tropical Conservation and Development (TCD) program housed in the Center for Latin American Studies. TCD is the home for the interdisciplinary project examining the socio-ecological impacts of hydroelectric dams which unites researchers across disciplines and countries with current funding from UF and CAPES, the Brazilian Higher Education agency.

Keywords: seed dispersal; Amazonia; frugivory; ecological niche modeling; tropical birds; conservation
