Kelly Grogan is an assistant professor specializing in bioeconomic modeling in the Food and Resource Economics Department at the University of Florida. She holds a Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics from the University of California, Davis. In general, her research focuses on the economically optimal management of bioeconomic systems, often focusing on agricultural systems. Her current empirical research projects include an analysis of spatial externalities of pesticide use in the California citrus industry and analyses of economically optimal disease management strategies for Huanglongbing in Florida citrus and Pudricion del Cogollo in Colombian palm oil. Her current theoretical research projects include an examination of how population dynamics and pesticide attributes affect the occurrence of spatial externalities generated by pesticide use. Her future work will continue to involve crop pests and diseases and will also apply bioeconomic modeling tools to habitat and species conservation.
