Dr. Sansalone has expertise in environmental hydrology, experimental methods in geo-environmental engineering, development of unit operations and processes for storm drainage, transport, fate and treatment of particulate matter, phosphorus and heavy metals. He has conducted research in the area of storm flow treatment and geo-environmental engineering for the last 10 years and this is one of his primary areas of research and teaching expertise along with development of physical-chemical processes for storm flows and infiltrating flows. Based on his teaching experience in Italy at University of Calabria, Genova, Bologna and Milano Polytechnic, he will continue his educational collaboration and dissemination on rainfall-runoff control Italian universities where he has taught. Previous to his academic career, Dr. Sansalone practiced as a professional engineer, ran a design/build general contracting company and co-owned a land development company that was successful in passive and solar building designs as well as “green” engineered site design in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
