Thomas T. Ankersen directs the University of Florida Conservation Clinic housed in the Center for Governmental Responsibility at the College of Law. He has conducted applied research in the area of water law with a particular interest in Florida water law and policy. The Conservation Clinic provides law and graduate students with the opportunity to enage in applied research with opportunities to develop and disseminate and policy products. The Clinic's portfolio of water law projects include springshed protection policy (including low impact development practices), local government wetland ordinance and comprehensive plan policy development, watershed based basin development and riparian rights to surface water use. Ankersen also directs the College of Law's Costa Rica Program, which includes a clinical component. Internationally, Ankersen has worked on transboundary watershed issues, a draft water law for the government of Costa Rica and related projects.
