Richard Hamann specializes in the evaluation and development of legal frameworks for the management of water, waterways, watersheds and related natural systems. Current research interests include the allocation of water for consumptive use; the protection of natural systems in water management; the development and implementation of basin-level strategies for pollution control; policies for the management of boating activities and waterfront development; the management of large scale ecosystems for ecological sustainability; and the development of protected areas systems and basin management in Latin America. Hamann has taught or coordinated the following courses and seminars in the College of Law: Environmental Law--Water, Wetlands and Wildlife; Water Law; Wetlands Law and Policy; Comparative Environmental Law in the Americas; Conservation Clinic; International Environmental Law and Policy; Transboundary Environmental Issues in the Americas; Ecosystem Management: the Everglades Case Study and Florida Ecosystems: Ecology, Management and Law.
