My interests are in modeling environmental fluid dynamics. A primary area of focus is in flooding and waves caused by hurricanes and the associated impact on the coastline. A second major area of work is in two phase flow, particularly water-sediment transport. I also work on rip currents, alongshore currents, breaking wave dynamics, and turbulent boundary layers. I am currently working on fluid-structure interactions, in particular, wave impacts on bridges. I teach classes on computational fluid dynamics, turbulence, hydrodynamic stability, wave mechanics, fluid dynamics, open channel hydraulics, coastal and nearshore processes, and physical oceanography and geophysical fluid dynamics. My next area of focus is likely to be on beach erosion caused by tropical storms.
