My interests and research are in wetlands ecology, including how wetlands organize pulses of nutrients and productivity in response to disturbances, how nutrients affect animal community organization and function, how contaminants and toxins, heavy metals and mercury affect the abilities of individual animals and populations to survive and reproduce. Animal health in relation to nutrient ecology, human disturbance and landscape change have also been of interest. Human disturbance from construction, ecotourism, and research have also been studied. Finally,I am interested in how animals, most often birds, move within and among wetlands as responses to ecological unpredictability, developmental needs, and anthropogenic landscape change. Conservation biology, ornithology, wetlands ecology, ecotoxicology, ecotourism, mercury, methylmercury.
